Count Down to Disney!

3 more days until Disney Land! Uh, that's if I'm counting right...I believe our reservations are for the 6th-9th, but I'm off of work starting Friday, so I can drive down to my friend's parents' house. I'll be spending the night there before we all drive down together on Saturday.

And no Dad...I haven't figured out the new GPS unit yet (um, it very possibly may still be in the box, just as you oh so brilliantly guessed in your email). I am planning on setting it up and downloading the necessities tomorrow night, and then test-running it on the way to Moriah's parents' place. I've done the drive a few times before (it's pretty straightforward), and have good directions from Moriah, so I think it would be a good time to test it.

Okay, so I haven't been down to DisneyLand in years (since that time I went with your family, Kerri!). Does anyone have any must see advice for me on the stuff that may not have been there in 2003? (The re-vamped Pirates ride is a must-do already...along with my usual haunts - which includes the Haunted Mansion - my favorite.)

Have fun on the trip. Sorry, but can't get excited over the whole Disney concept though. (As I've told Jill in the past.) Perhaps one day, the both of you will actually delve into the history of Walt and understand why I can't get that excited.

But have fun with the family nonetheless.

One more day to California!!! There are a few things that are new since 2003, and we have 3 days to check them out.
GPS? Good idea :) I think Eric could benefit from a GPS, but whenever we go anywhere, we always take my car.

I went a few years back. That Downtown Disney area is kinda fun, lots of shops and restaurants. I will say that California Adventure is kind of stupid. When I was there, almost everything was closed almost nothing was going on.

I also always wanted to eat at the Blue Bayou near Pirates, but you need to make reservations ahead of time for that, so I might recommend trying to set that up before you go there.

And Dagny, I agree with you about Walt Disney, knowing what I do about his racist and anti-Semitic inclinations. Kind of chilling seeing some of those early cartoons.

Hey Tami,
I'll shoot you off a list of reasonable places to eat (and where it's warm!). Wish I were working there to help you out with discounts...maybe next time...

Tami-what type of GPS did you get? I got a Garmin for my b-day and love it. It is very user friendly. Kyle and I used in in NYC and it was great. It may not give you the most direct route but it gets you there! Let me know. Have fun w/ Moriah & Eric :)
