Age Discrimination!!

Boo!

I heard a story on my local radio's morning show the other day that said the most common age for kids to stop trick-or-treating was 13. 13?! No way! I trick-or-treated into my college years, as did my Aunt and a bunch of my friends (I had to have someone to go with, you know). My siblings all kept trick-or-treating at least into high school.

I still like to dress up for Halloween too, when given a reason to do so. Don't worry though, I did finally accept that I shouldn’t trick-or-treat anymore.

So, I have a question for all of my readers (if I actually have any) – when did you stop dressing up for Halloween and/or stop trick-or-treating? If you had kids, are you going to have them stop at a certain age?

I have not stopped dressing up just not gotten around to dressing up. I would if I had a non humiliating costume this year. Not sure when we stopped trick or treating.

Hmm...I'm pretty sure that it's not Oriental Trading Company's fault that you bought that humiliating costume...

I think I stopped in high school.

Did you make that cookie??
You know I trick-or-treated when I was 24-25. But in my defense, I was just the "chaparone," sans treat bag, but people kept insisting I take candy anyway! I think it was because I was dressed up and they appreciated that I put effort into it.

Yes I made that cookie! And that one was my favorite of the bunch.

And Aunt Fran, you may say you were the "chaperone," but all I know is that you dressed up, came to the doors, and walked away with candy. Sounds like active trick-or-treating to me!

I stopped trick-or-treating in high school, when my dad made me feel super guilty (I think it was Freshman year). I started back up when my first child was 1. I would have started sooner, but she was born on Oct. 20th, and it just didn't seem right to take a 10 day old out so that I could get candy. Besides the fact that so many people sent us goodies for having a baby, and I felt guilty getting more.
